Beating to my own drum, by client Trish

Today was the first chance I had to be in the Drum Circle.  I had heard a lot about it from the other clients.  It was exciting and stimulating, and I noticed that everyone came alive when we started drumming – clients of all ages.  Since I have some vision, I looked around and absolutely everyone was enjoying it.  For those who have partial vision, such as myself, the drums were colorful.  They reminded me of Haitian art.

I think the drum circle is healthy for a multitude of reasons.  You can’t be down in the dumps when you’re drumming.  If you’re angry, you can take out your frustrations.  For me, this was a great way to release tension.  I think everyone got something out of it.

I love music – all kinds of music.  The
Drum Circle
program is reminiscent of another time and place we’ve all been at one point with music.  You just get lost in it.

When it was all over, there were some people that wanted to drum longer.  The session was a bit long for me, but I’m really looking forward to next time!
